Terms

Prerequisites: Current private pilot with at least 45 hours of cross country time.

* Dual includes prepaid hourly rate of plane plus $35/hr for the instructor
** Pre and post-flight discussion/additional ground lessons.

*** The studying for the required written test can be accomplished in 3 ways. We offer a ground school for $399 that provides 40 hrs of instruction and includes the cost of the written exam. The second option is self-study, with the written completed by an agreed-upon point with your instructor, in your training. The third option would be one on one instruction (at $35/hr), for a total of approx. $1,400 to equal the same 40 hrs provided in the class.

Total cost based upon the national average of 40 hrs of instrument time before obtaining instrument rating. Minimum required time of 40 instrument hrs (at least 15 hrs with an instructor) listed in the regulations is a best-case scenario and rarely attained. This price sheet is provided as an estimate of what to budget for training, not an absolute price reference. Depending upon student preparation for each lesson, individual differences, and frequency of lessons, these hours may vary.

Block rate is $5 less/hr on the aircraft rate, when prepaid in blocks of 10 hrs.

Evidence suggests that flying less than twice a week adds approx. 10 hrs training time to obtaining the license.

Prices may change without notice.
