*** The studying for the required written test can be accomplished 3 ways. We offer a ground school for $399 that provides 40 hrs of instruction and includes the cost of the written exam. The 2nd option is self study, with the written completed by an agreed-upon point with your instructor, in your training. The 3rd option would be one-on-one instruction (at $30/hr), for a total of app. $1200 to equal the same 40 hrs provided in the class.
Total cost based upon the national average of 55 hrs training time before obtaining private pilot certificate. Minimum required time of 40 hrs (at least 20 hrs dual, at least 10 hrs solo) listed in the regulations is a best-case scenario and rarely attained. This price sheet is provided as an estimate of what to budget for training, not an absolute price reference. Depending on student preparation for each lesson, individual differences, and frequency of lessons, these hours may vary up or down.
Block rate is $5 less/hr on the aircraft rate, when prepaid in blocks of 10 hrs.
Evidence suggests flying less than twice a week adds app. 10 hrs training time obtaining the license.
